Primal started out as a hardcore surfboard label in a back factory in Barrys Point Road on Auckland's North Shore back in 1991. It has since grown to be one of the best known surfboard brands in New Zealand. Feedback from the thousands of boards shaped and first hand experience has added to our knowledge of surfing conditions around the world thus giving us a better idea of our customer's needs. The quality of our boards has also caught the eye of Quiksilver and Rip Curl who have provided us with the licence to shape boards under those well known labels.
In the end our aim is to create quality surf products and enjoy the lifestyle that surfing provides us.

Hayden Chamberlain
As a wee lad Hayden dreamt of being a surfboard shaper. His first shapes were done out of kumaras and progressed to chilli bin lids from his dad's fishing boat. His dad was so mad he exciled the young man and sent him packing to roam the world (Auckland) and gain experience with various surfboard factories. Many mullets later Hayden made it to Primal and has become a shaper to the stars and nut butter aficionado.
Okay...so this story is bull, but I'm waiting on Hayden to get his shite together give me a short bio.
